Aveda Institute turned to LMA with a challenge to design a hair styling school that merged a message of sustainability with high fashion. The result was a cleanly organized space that juxtaposes warm textures of reclaimed wood against a cool sophisticated palette of glass and concrete. A 70-foot long wall made of wood rescued from the scrap bin unifies the space while neatly concealing student storage lockers. At the street, select views into the space are framed by a pattern of clear, colored and textured glass.
