The Owners purchased a townhome for their growing family and approached us with the challenge of opening up the existing clogged spaces, divided rooms, cramped kitchen and claustrophobic stairs and hallways. We reimagined the spaces and designed them to flow together and share more of the available natural light already existed between. The enclosed stair was opened to view, but nestled behind a wood slat wall. For better direct access to the new rear deck and garden, an opening was created infilled with a window and door of industrial steel sash. Stairs throughout the house were reconfigured to flow from bottom to the top where there is a skylit attic playroom for the couple’s two little girls.
